Format of my choice - innovative events in Tyrol and the corporate image of a destination

Thinking about events in Tyrol, it comes to my mind an innovative and creative event that takes place every year in the pedestrian area in Seefeld in Tirol: the “Handwerksfest”, translated in English it is a festival of handicraft in Tyrol.

During the 3 days in the small village of Seefeld you got the feeling to have been transported in an other historical time.

This makes this event magical, you see everywhere people wearing the traditional Tyrolean “Dirndl” and “Lederhosen”, the traditional music is played live all around there is a magical atmosphere of bygone days throughout the village.

The main object and theme of the event is the Tyrolean culture. This is the object of the whole event and this intangible aspect and competitive advantage is something that can not be replaced somewhere else or copied somewhere else.

Corporate image for new guests

  • As a destination, you have the opportunity to show in detail the culture and the roots of Tyrol.

  • Showing authentic elements of the culture of a territory, an event like this is able to deliver emotional engagement to the visitors.

  • The event itself is able to communicate authenticity to tourists visiting Tyrol for the first time.

  • The human and authentic element is fundamental in the success of the event.

Corporate image for repeating guests

  • The visitor is connected with feelings that makes them want to come always one more time to experience the feeling during the event.

  • At the same time the repeating guest is expecting a high value and a good organizational structure.

New creative approach

  • OFFLINE PERSPECTIVE

  • ONLINE PERSPECTIVE

  • An innovative idea that could be applied in the offline setting of the event could be te concept “buy what you make”. This implies an active attitude of the spectator to the event that is not only a viewer but also takes an active part on the event. This concept is designed so that spectators can choose at which stand they can produce their handmade object to take home. The production process is naturally guided by the industry expert present at the event.

  • Under the online perspective, there could be some points of improvement. My idea is to create an online platform for the community of the event of the participants. For example there could be after the event one contest where the best creation made during the event could win the title of the best artisan.

Another aspect that could be implemented in the online community platform is the introduction of badges. Every year that the visitor comes to the event gain one step more to be “a tiroler”. This idea could be attractive for new guests that could become repeating guest, and for already loyal guests as well.

Here below you can find a video of the “Strudelfest” that takes place in Seefeld as well in order to see how it looks like in a general way.
